DR. BERNHARD SPRINGER
Script editor, Director & Producer

Bernhard Springer, born 1955 in Hannover, studied Modern History of German Literature, Linguistics, Logic and Theory of Science at the Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich. He graduated with an MA and PhD in Film studies.

While studying for his degrees he was also creative as a painter, sculptur and video artist, and succesfully exhibited in many exhibitions in Germany, Europe and USA, especially as part of a group of artists called 'frisch gestrichen' ('wet paint'). The gallery KRUPAN (opposite the Munich state art gallery, the 'Haus der Kunst') shows a range of his creative pieces. His works can also be found on the website www.bernhard-springer.de.

After graduating, Bernhard started his film career as an academic writer, film journalist, advertisement writer, as well as script writer for films for industry and TV shows (Disney Club etc).

Between 1991 and 1997 he worked as author, promotion producer, manager of the writers' department and producer of documentary series and TV programmes at the TV station PRO SIEBEN. He developed and produced, among other things, the cinematic magazine Pro Movie, two documentary series and various specials. He directed the 90 -minute documentary "HEINZ RUEHMANN - KLEINER MANN GANZ GROSS" (1994).

Between 1997 and 2000 Bernhard worked as head of development and producer for Helkon Media Filmproduction, on feature films such as 14 TAGE LEBENSLÄNGLICH (1997), NICHTS ALS DIE WAHRHEIT (After The Truth) (1998) and SUCK MY DICK (2000/2001).

Since 2001 he has worked as a director and freelance producer of video clips and documentaries.

In Summer 2000 he founded, together with Charles M. Huber, the production company true lines entertainment GmbH (Pty Ltd) and in 2004, together with Thomas Häberle, the production company häberle / springer filmproduction GbR

For his video clip plastic-indianer Bernhard Springer was awarded the prize of the European Parliament at the 1988 film festival at Locarno. In 1993 he also won the first award for trailers for his Pro-Sieben News-Trailer (concept + script).

He has several publications with the publishers Heyne, Belleville, Narr, de Gruyter, and others, about the topics: Theory of the Narrative, Film, Native Americans, Serial killers, and TV Design.

He has provided screenwriting support for the following scripts which gained funding: MAX (Biopic of Max Schmeling) by Sebastian Hirt (FFF 1999), AEQUINOX (Biopic of Alexander v. Humboldt) by Susanne Beck and Stefan Eifler (MFG 2000), LITTLE PARIS by Miriam Dehne (MFG 2001), EIN NIEDERBAYER IM SENEGAL by Charles M. Huber (FFA 2001), DER KAPELLMEISTER by Ferdinand Kroh (Media 2004).
